The beautiful and classic Essex 4′ Bench will make a wonderful seating statement where ever it is placed. The beautifully simple design includes thick and heavy legs and classic corner braces. The entire Essex line of benches and chairs have been designed to present a grand scale. Unlike any of our other styles, the Essex line is built of large 2 and 1/8″ dimensional lumber. The increased scale has also been employed in the overall dimensions of the chair. Like all of our furniture, this chair is made of shorea, a teak family wood that is more dense and heavy than teak. Shorea requires no finishing and will not rot when left outdoors where rain and sun will damage other lesser quality woods. Left untreated, shorea will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. Sturdy mortise and tenon construction provides the highest quality joinery that will last for many years. Original color can be maintained by applying a seasonal coat of teak oil.

The washable wicker strands have a powder-coated finish with a modest sheen that easily sheds drizzle and accidental drips, and its looks will remain unchanged for three years under normal usage. No assembly required.

This squarish middle chair combines with the other pieces from this sectional collection to create a loungey atmosphere, or it can be easily used on its own. It includes a comfortably firm cushion that measures 31 inches wide and 26-1/2 inches deep. The natural-hued cushion cover has a zippered closure, allowing you to remove the interior polyurethane foam for cleaning. Cherry-hued block-wood legs (with a 5-inch clearance) and lightweight aluminum reinforcement under the seat provide increased durability and strength. The cushion is not weather treated, and should be brought inside during inclement weather. The removable cover can spot cleaned with warm water and mild detergent.

The term “wicker” doesn’t refer to a particular material, but a style of construction that weaves together stiff strands of fibers such as rattan, willow, and bamboo.
